Festival Bazaar 2018: Swish

Rope jumping as a children’s game, but also as ambition and self-improvement. Are you jumping to get ahead, jumping past your old boundaries, or are you just jumping in a circle from which there is no escape? How long will the game stay just a game and how long will it take before the game slips into madness?

Performance takes place at Ponec Theatre and it is in Czech and English. Swish is a part of Bazaar festival 2018 and Febiofest's off-program.

The idea for Tereza Hradilková's dance solo was born while working on the dance film Beating, which was shot at Prague's Palaestra boxing club: „I was fascinated by how boxers jump rope. I enjoyed the lightness of their movements, their changing rhythm, the movement of their arms and legs, which was a kind of dance all of its own. I was enchanted by the different kinds of jums and skips; and what really got me was the sound of the jump rope that accompanied their movements,“ explains the project`s author Tereza Hradilková.
