"Evita" is a musical biography based on facts, of Eva Perón-Duart – the second wife of Juan Perón the president of Argentina. This is the best known and the most frequently performed work of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The premiere took place in Prince Edward Theatre in London West End on the 21st of June 1978. A year later this exceptional masterpiece was shown on Broadway where it was performed 1584 times! The film version directed by Alan Parker turned out to be also a great success. It was nominated to five Film Academy Awards – Oscars. Madonna played the leading role, accompanied by Antonio Banderas.
The realisation of the Music Theatre in Poznań is the first performance in Poland of the musical composed by the most famous author of musicals in the world, in its latest music version from 2010. It includes the song „You must love me” composed for Madonna for the needs of the film adaptation from 1996. The Poznań spectacle is enjoying high popularity among spectators who come from all over Poland to see it, and the tickets are sold in advance of a few months!
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the author of the biggest blockbuster musicals in the world such as "Cats", "Jesus Christ Superstar" or "The Phantom of the Opera". The spectacle has been created by the producers who earlier worked with the musical "Jekyll&Hyde".
