The Staples Jr. Singers

The Staples Jr. Singers formed in Aberdeen, Mississippi, in the late 1960s and were part of a soul revolution that took the embers of gospel from churches to the dancefloors of trendy clubs. They recorded their first and only album When Do We Get Paid in 1973, but didn't have a breakthrough career until today. A reissue of the album, released on the Luaka Bop label founded by David Byrne, led to a flurry of touring offers, so The Staples Jr. Singers started touring the world.
