Sylosis

Sylosis is a British metal band formed in 2000 in the city of Reading. Its founder and main figure is guitarist and vocalist Josh Middleton. The band combines elements of thrash metal, melodic death metal, and progressive metal. In 2008, they signed a contract with the record label Nuclear Blast Records, under which they released their debut album Conclusion of an Age (2008). Further studio albums followed, including Edge of the Earth (2011), Monolith (2012), Dormant Heart (2015), and Cycle of Suffering (2020). After a brief hiatus between 2016 and 2019, the band announced its return to the scene. Sylosis’ music is characterized by technically demanding guitar parts, fast tempos, and a combination of growling and clean vocals.

In July 2023, they released their sixth studio album, A Sign of Things to Come, which included the singles Deadwood, Poison for the Lost, A Sign of Things to Come, Descent, and later Absent. The album was the last to feature rhythm guitarist Alex Bailey, who left the band in October 2024 and was replaced by Ben Thomas.

In October 2024, the band released the EP The Path, consisting of material recorded during the sessions for A Sign of Things to Come, including the title track featuring guest vocals by Debbie Gough (Heriot).
