Suotana
Suotana is a Finnish metal band originating from the city of Rovaniemi. It was founded in 2005 as a solo project by guitarist Ville Rautio and gradually evolved into a six-member group. Their music combines elements of melodic death metal, melodic black metal, and power metal. The band's lyrics are often inspired by the nature of northern Finland, particularly the area surrounding the Ounasjoki River.
The band has released several studio albums. Their debut album, Forgotten Soil Of This Land, came out in 2014, followed by Frostrealm in 2015 and Land Of The Ending Time in 2018. In 2023, Suotana released the concept album Ounas I, which continues the thematic focus on natural motifs. In 2024, Suotana embarked on their first European tour as a supporting act for Finntroll and Metsatöll, with performances including a show in the Czech Republic.
The current lineup consists of vocalist Tuomo Marttinen, guitarists Ville Rautio and Pasi Portaankorva, keyboardist Tommi Neitola, bassist Rauli Alaruikka, and drummer Rauli Juopperi.
