State Opera

Great opera house from 1888 has a long tradition. You can enjoy there beautiful opera and ballet performances. With its spacious auditorium and neo-rococo decoration, this theater building is one of the the most beautiful in Europe. It is connected with outstanding personalities of Czech and world music composers Antonin Dvorak, Zdenek Fibich, Josef Bohuslav Foerster, Vitezslav Novak, Leos Janacek and Bohuslav Martinu. From the famous opera singers we commemorate Ema Destinova, Jarmila Novotna, Eva Urbanova, Dagmar Peckova, Otakar Marak, Ben Blachuta, Eduard Hakena and Ivo Zidek.
