Smith/Kotzen

Smith/Kotzen is a musical project formed in 2020 by British guitarist Adrian Smith, best known for his work with Iron Maiden, and American singer and guitarist Richie Kotzen, who has performed with bands such as The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, and Poison. The project blends elements of hard rock, blues rock, and classic rock.

The debut album, titled Smith/Kotzen, was released in March 2021 through the BMG label. The recording was made primarily during the COVID-19 pandemic and took place in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Both musicians contributed to the album as vocalists, guitarists, and producers. Most of the drum tracks were performed by Tal Bergman, with additional contributions from Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) and Kotzen himself. In 2022, the EP Better Days... And Nights was released, featuring four live recordings and four studio tracks, some of which were recorded during the sessions for the debut album but were not included on it. The duo released their second studio album, Black Light / White Noise, in April 2025 via BMG. The album was recorded at The House studio in Los Angeles in 2024 and contains ten tracks. Bassist Julia Lage and drummers Bruno Valverde and Kyle Hughes also contributed to the album.
