Skankan
A ska band from Sosnowiec, formed in 1993, inspired by the achievements of groups such as The Specials and The Beat. It gave concerts in clubs and at festivals in Poland and abroad: Pod Jaszczurami, U Desmond Dekerta, Proxima, Mega Club, Riviera Remont, Stodoła, Ska Fest - Bad Muskau, Ska & Reggae in Prague, Przystanek Woodstock, Punkowa Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy, Reggae nad Wartą, Ostróda Reggae Festival. Skankan has collaborated with other bands (Püdelsi, Bandog, Pogodno, Pidżama Porno, Frontside) and taken part in music-related projects, including being the subject of the documentary film Rower Błażeja. Between 2010 and 2019, Skankan were on hiatus; their return to the stage took place as part of an anniversary show by street punk crew Booze & Glory. They released their first full-length album after resuming activity, Bourbon Whiskey Gin, in 2022; the first single promoting the release, Coco, reached number 10 on Antyradio's Turbo Top chart.
