SEED Ensemble
SEED Ensemble is a ten-member jazz orchestra formed in early 2016 in London by Cassie Kinoshi, a composer, arranger and saxophonist. The group's leader has already worked out a highly regarded position on the British jazz scene. She co-created, among others, the female septet Nerija and the Afro-jazz group Korokoko. Under the banner of SEED, Ensemble combines urban inspirations of London with the sounds of West Africa and the Caribbean. The band's line-up includes, among others, the tuba player Theon Cross from Sons of Kemet. SEED Ensemble's debut album, entitled Driftglass, was released in early 2019 and was enthusiastically received by critics and the audience.
