Sedlecký klášter

Sedlec Monastery used to be the oldest Cistercian abbey in the Czech Kingdom. It was founded in 1142 by the nobleman Miroslav probably on the advice of the Olomouc bishop Jindřich Zdík in today's Sedlec. After the burning by the Hussites, the convent church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist survived. The former monastery is currently the site of a cigarette factory operated by Philip Morris ČR a. s.
