Rabih Abou-Khalil
Lebanese luteno oud virtuoso and composer, for almost 40 years of his career he has developed his own, characteristic sound idiom. Rabih Abou Khalil was one of the first artists to synthesize Arabic music with jazz and elements of Western classical music. His openness was influenced by the atmosphere of his hometown - tolerant and cosmopolitan Beirut of the 60's and 70's. Since 1978 he has lived and worked in Europe and has released over 20 highly acclaimed albums, which he has recorded with artists from various musical worlds. Multiculturalism is not only an idea for him - he perceives it as a means to create music that escapes definition and discovers new emotional content.
