Portrayal of Guilt

Portrayal of Guilt is an American musical group that was formed in 2017 in Austin, Texas. The band was founded by Matt King (guitar, vocals), Blake Given (bass), and James Beveridge (drums). In 2019, Blake Given was replaced in the lineup by Alex Stanfield. The group is known for its musical style, which combines elements of screamo, black metal, grindcore, and noise rock.

The band’s debut album, Let Pain Be Your Guide, was released in 2018 and produced by Matt Michel, frontman of the band Majority Rule. It was followed by We Are Always Alone in 2021, which was recorded at Cacophony Recorders in Austin and produced by Phillip Odom. In 2021, they also released the album Christfucker, which was recorded at Strange Weather and Circular Ruin studios in Brooklyn with producer Ben Greenberg. In 2023, they released the album Devil Music, which was divided into two parts: the first features five tracks in the band’s traditional style, while the second presents these songs in arrangements inspired by pagan rituals.
