The band was appointed by saxophonist Michał Fetler (Jazzband Młynarski Masecki, Tsigunz Fanfara Avantura) as part of an artistic residence at the Zamek Cultural Center in Poznań. Polmuz implements modern, original interpretations of folk music of Wielkopolska from the vicinity of Poznań, Pleszewa, Śrem, Gryżyna, Jurków and others. The starting point for the creation of the project were archival recordings, contained on shellac plates, from field recordings from the 1920s and 1930s. The recordings were treated as source material, used to develop the narrative of freely improvised, open compositions. Musicians representing significantly different musical trends were invited to the project - modern jazz, ethno, folk, contemporary classical and experimental music, raw electronics, improvised music as well as noise and hardcore music.
