Po Prostu
Po Prostu is a band established in 1985 in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, consisting of former members of Deadlock, DDT and Dom Dziecka. Not only a band distinguished by its seniority, following its own path, but also probably the only punk band on the Polish scene which consistently uses absurd-cabaret climate. One of the few bands on Polish independent scene playing continuously since mid-80s. From the very beginning they play melodic punk with a characteristic sound. But what definitely distinguishes this band are the lyrics written by the eccentric vocalist of the group, Szczepan Szprada - the first in Poland to have an Iroquois across his head and a punk skin with Kombi written on it. Szczepan is first and foremost the author of characteristic Dadaist lyrics. They have a form of linguistic experiments with grammar and vocabulary, they are a commentary of everyday life of the city dwellers. The band played in Jarocin '86, Poza Kontrola '86 and as a part of Nowa Scena '87/'88. It supported many punk notables, it has four studio albums, a part in legendary Gdynia compilation (Tonpress '88) and three vinyl epics, which are a real treat for black disc collectors today.
