Olek Grotowski has been performing for 46 years. In 1972 he met Andrzej Waligorski, whose work he had been fascinated with before, and he gave him the first portion of lyrics for which he wrote the music. In the seventies, performing at student and tourist song festivals, he won mainly audience awards. That is why, after just three years, his performances in clubs became his only source of income. In 1981 he won the Silver Knebel at the First Review of the True Song "Forbidden Songs". He owes his popularity mainly to the performance of Andrzej Waligorski's lyrics taken by censorship, which he successfully smuggled in at official concerts.
