Oklahoma Youth Orchestra

The Oklahoma Youth Orchestra (OYO), under the direction of Artistic Director Jeffrey Grogan, is the core ensemble of OKYO.

Oklahoma Youth Orchestras (OKYO) prides itself on offering programs for young musicians from elementary through high school with ensembles designed for all skill levels, providing a fun, dynamic and supportive environment that inspires them to pursue their passion for music.

Founded in 1977, OKYO provides outstanding music education and performance opportunities to more than 400 talented young musicians throughout central Oklahoma each year. OKYO includes twelve ensembles and programs, making it the largest youth orchestra program in the state. It is recognized for its commitment to the arts and arts education. In 2018, OKYO received the Governor's Special Recognition Award for its contributions to arts education from the Oklahoma Arts Council, and in 2021, OKYO was honored by the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits as a recipient of the ONE Award in Arts and Humanities.

Over forty-seven seasons, OKYO ensembles have performed around the world, including appearances at Carnegie Hall, New Zealand, China and Europe, the prestigious Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and the League of American Orchestras national conference.
