The museum bears the name of a European representative of op-art and a pioneer of dynamic constructivism Milan Dobes. Apart from his works it also presents world leading concrete art.
The space of the museum is divided into seven parts, four of which are dedicated to the work of Milan Dobes. In the first two parts the beginnings of Dobes’s abstract production is presented – drawings and paintings influenced by geometric abstraction, optic kinetic reliefs as well as cut collage. The next part focuses on his graphic works. The fourth and fifth parts are devoted to the world exhibition Documenta 4 from 1968. In the part dedicated to Milan Dobes’s friends we continue with the previous part of the exposition. The last part then presents the influence of Milan Dobes on American Wind Symphony Orchestra where he created an accompanying light kinetic programme.
