Michael Wertmüller
Michael Wertmüller was born in 1966 in Thun, Switzerland. He is a composer and drummer residing in Berlin. He has worked as a classical drummer with the Berne Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra and many other chamber orchestras. He has composed for Christoph Schlingensief and Cologne Theater, Schauspielhaus Zürich and Schauspiel Stuttgart. He graduated from the Swiss Jazz School (1982-1985), the Hochschule der Künste in Bern (1986-1990) and the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam (1991-1992), where he studied composition. Michael Wertmüller's music, on the one hand, emanates with raw power and, on the other, is speculative. Apart from the influence of literature, time and its divisions, breakdowns and extensions are the most important sources of inspiration. His compositions are often filled with the most complex beats and notes.
