Melusines 2024
Melusines is the culmination of Spatial Sommer Lab, second edition of 3D audio symposium dedicated to immersive audio formats and exploration of how sharpening listening skills enhances connection with surroundings and boosts perception in digital-heavy lives.
In the era of seamless implementation of digital landscapes in daily life questions rise: will any of those conduce to positive development of experience? What is the role of immersive media in this discourse? In specific: how could composed and performed spatial soundscapes contribute to cultivation of perception and communication capacities?
The 6 international lab residents seek answers to these questions through diverse prisms, ranging between the fields of sonic arts, acoustic ecology & electroacoustic composition.
The concert will present commissioned performances and compositions by:
- Viktória Arvayová
- Michael Džindžichašvili
- Hou Lam Wu
- Heu Hsu & Daniel Lythgoe
- Martin Janda
- Carina Pesch
The event is powered by a 32-channel diy open source soundsystem, provided by the main residency partner OTTOsonics, based in Ottensheim, Austria. The event organisers would like to thank the Cultural Center of Ústí nad Labem, Löblhof & Artgrund and Faculty of Art and Design JEPU for their support and cooperation. The project is financially supported by the Ústí Region, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, Arts and Theatre institute within the SoundCzech program.
