Martin Kleibl
Martin Kleibl is a Czech drummer.
He studied at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, where he was gradually educated in classical, jazz and popular music. During a two-year study stay at the University of North Texas in the jazz class of one of the world's most prominent teachers, Ed Soph, he also gained experience in Indian, Latin American and African music.
He further expanded his playing knowledge by participating in a number of workshops with top performers. He has collaborated, for example, with the Swiss Paul Klee Ensemble and the Slovak Quasars Ensemble. He also developed his interpretive versatility in the field of classical music, especially during his seven-year engagement with the Brno Philharmonic. He has been playing music for percussion instruments in the OK Percussion Duo ensemble, which he founded with Martin Opršál, head of the percussion department at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts. Martin Kleibel's main instrument is the drum kit, which he uses in jazz and popular music as well as in classical music. He has performed as a soloist or in ensembles in most of Europe, Japan and the USA.
