Polish tenor Piotr Beczala have in recent years built his career slowly and quietly, away from the media spotlight, but reliably. He started the first opera in Linz, Austria, continued in Zurich, Switzerland, and in April 2004 it debuted at Covent Garden as the Italian singer in Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier. In November, first introduced in the USA, the Opera House in San Francisco as Lenskij in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, followed by Milan’s La Scala in January 2006, where he celebrated his debut as the Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto as the same role also debuted at the Metropolitan Opera 19th 12th 2006. And then in February 2009 came a quick substitute for Rolando Villazón in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Anna Netrebko in the title role: Metropolitan Opera performances were transmitted as part of Live in HD live across the world. If in the meantime the Beczalovi described as a rising star from Poland, now I was not about his career in doubt.
