Son of a jazz pianist, producer and writer Ole Matthiessen didn’t follow his father’s footsteps. Although the thought of becoming a jazz guitarist crossed his mind, he soon realized that he would rather focus on straightforward songwriting. That was undoubtedly a good choice, since he‘s usually defined as the Danish Bob Dylan or Drake. Both fans and critics appreciate his profoundly urgent texts accompanied by simple, yet dynamically built up melodies – reviews praising his work were published in several prestigious magazines such as Rolling Stone Magazine, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Zeit and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. It is no coincidence that Matthiessen is popular especially in neighboring Germany. It was during his studies in Berlin, when he started his musical career and he still considers this city his second home. Later, he performed in Austria, Poland, Switzerland, France, Spain, Norway and the USA, wider recognition came also thanks to supporting stars like Anna Calvi or Suzanne Vega.
