Krzysztof Jakowicz

Krzysztof Jakowicz is an exceptional violinist, chamber musician and a teacher. Studied violin under Tadeusz Wronski at PWSM in Warsaw in 1958-63 (graduated with honours). In 1965-66 continued his study at the Indiana University in Bloomington, USA under Josef Gingold and Janos Starker. Krzysztof Jakowicz lives a very active concert life – he has performed in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Israel both as a soloist and with numerous orchestras. He was repeatedly invited to world renowned festivals like: Warsaw Autumn, Two Worlds Festival in Spoleto, Berliner Festspiele, Festival de Paris, Festival Vlaanderen, Wiener Festwochen as well as festivals in Edinbourgh, London and Bregenz. In Paris in 1995, for the 50th UN anniversary Jakowicz performed I violin concert by Karol Szymanowski with the Orchestre National de France conducted by Jerzy Semkow. Jakowicz is a prize winner from the Ministry of Culture and Art, Ministry of Foreign Affairs – for the wide spread of Polish culture abroad and is also a laureate of Polish Composers Associacion and has been honoured with the Order of Merit. The artist plays a violin handcrafted by Italian violin maker Paolo Albani in 1698.
