Komentovaná prohlídka výstavy Jiří Pelcl: Design je pro mě náboženstvím s autorem
The exhibition Design is a Religion to Me is an intervention in the permanent exhibition Art, Life. Art for Life, which was created as part of this year's Design Block. It will be presented by the author himself, Jiří Pelcl.
Once an angry young man who founded Atika and defined Czech postmodernism, he has become a leading figure in product design—industrial, large-scale, and small-scale—and still has something to say about studio design. And he is celebrating his 75th birthday. This exhibition presents his views on what is now old-fashioned, but still most aptly, referred to as "applied art." We symbolically commemorate this milestone anniversary through 7.5 principles. Each decade is represented by one of Pelcl's fundamental commentaries that give meaning to his work and its materialization in selected designs, including this year's new additions.
The exhibition is curated by Danica Kovářová.
