Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak

Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak is a Polish conductor. She graduated from the symphonic and opera conducting class of M. Gawroński at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (2013). She honed her conducting skills at master classes conducted by T. Strugała, twice being among the distinguished participants (Wrocław 2011, Kraków 2012), then at master classes with J. Wang, J. Panula, M. Heron, G. Chmura and R. Delekta. In 2013 she was a semi-finalist of the Jeunesses Musicales International Conducting Competition in Bucharest. In the same year, through a competition, she received an invitation from the Baltic Youth Philharmonic to take part in workshops and preparations for one of the concerts of the Usedom Music Festival as an assistant to Kristjan Järvi.

Since 2014 as an assistant conductor she has also worked with Ch. Vasquez, S. Edwards, D. Navarro, Ch. Schumann, E. Ochsner, F. Stroblem, G. Chmura, J. Kaspszyk, M. Klauza, T. Kozłowski and M. Moś. As the second conductor, she took part in the preparation of the opening concert of the 18th Ada Sari International Festival of Vocal Art in Nowy Sącz, where under the direction of the world-famous singer and conductor J. Cura, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 Resurrection was performed. During the 7th, 8th and 9th Krakow Film Music Festival, she had the opportunity to work with leading composers of the genre. such as H. Zimmer, E. Goldenthal, D. Marianelli, P. Doyle, T. Morris, D. Licht, J. Beal, R. Djawadi, J. Pook, H. Gregson-Williams and H. Pereira.

In 2015 she began a permanent cooperation with the Grand Theatre in Poznań, where she prepared, among others, the premiere of Anna Karenina by R. Szczedrin and Love Drink. G. Donizetti. Through her participation in the "Conductor-in-Residence" programme initiated by the Institute of Music and Dance, she served as resident conductor of the Beethoven Academy Orchestra. In 2017, she was one of six scholarship recipients from around the world of the Dartington International Summer School programme. In 2018, she was nominated for the 12th Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Awards in the category "Best Conductor".

She has conducted ensembles such as the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Romanian Royal Camerata, the Royal Northern College of Music Chamber Ensemble in Manchester, the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Poznań, the Orchestra of the Wrocław Opera, the NFM Orchestra of the Wrocław Philharmonic, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Częstochowa Philharmonic, Symphony Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic, Symphony Orchestra of the Kalisz Philharmonic, Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra, AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy, Sinfonietta Cracovia Orchestra of the Capital City of Cracow, Plock Symphony Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Wrocław, Sound Factory Orchestra, Stand-by Orchestra and the Wrocław Misericordia Choir.
