Josef Kovačič
Josef Kovačič is a Czech opera singer.
He comes from Liberec, with which his singing beginnings in Severacek and the gymnasium Cum Decore are connected. He began singing opera at the age of sixteen at the Liberec ZUŠ, and also privately, especially with Svatava Šubrtová. He continued his studies at the Prague Conservatory under Jiří Kubík and at the Music Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Martin Bárta.
In the summer of 2015 he made his professional debut in the role of Hermann (Hoffmann's Tales) at the prestigious music festival Bregenz. In the following years, he performed as Hades and Pluto in a historically informed production of Monteverdi's Orfeo on the Pilsen stage, or as Benes in Smetana's Dalibor in České Budějovice. He is a laureate of a number of domestic prizes and is engaged in concert activities in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Spain and collaborates with ensembles such as the North Bohemian Philharmonic Teplice or the Podkrkonošsky Symphony Orchestra. Since 2019 he has been a tribal soloist of the F. X. Šalda Theatre.
