Joanna Concejo: Pan Wyrazisty, cień samego siebie
The exhibition of works by Joanna Concejo opens the new artistic season of OP ENHEIM. It is not, however, simply a presentation of artistic book illustration, but an event accompanying the long-awaited premiere of a new book by the Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk.
The exhibition will be an opportunity to get acquainted with a new series of original illustrations by Joanna Concejo, which are significantly different from the works presented so far. They are far from the friendly, nostalgic, melancholic and sometimes dreamlike aesthetic, offering rather rough, predatory and strongly realistic imagery. Softness is replaced here by a hard line, characteristic understatement by concreteness, and the form, levitating somewhere, is embedded in the narrative convention of comics. Gouache is mixed with pencil, sometimes glitch with photorealism. The author consciously plays with the form and experiments with techniques so that the sequential style created by her fully reflects the atmosphere of the story spun by Tokarczuk.
