Island Mint
The Prague band Island Mint plays indie rock in various forms with references to the sunshine pop of the 60s, but also a dose of psychedelia or shoegaze.
The band Island Mint, which has been a revelation on the Prague scene since 2021, combines sunshine pop and 60s garage rock with references to 90s shoegaze. From the whimsical pop of the EP Island Mint (2021) and through the surreal indie album Irreality (2022), frontman Matyáš Adámek’s band released the kraut-tinged EP All Studium No Punctum in 2023, where the music took on a sharper edge. The five-member band is now in its fourth year of successfully convincing audiences in Czech and foreign clubs and festivals “that the sun is really shining." The jury of Radio Wave’s Czeching also felt this way, sending the band to Eurosonic Noorderslag 2024.
