Irist
The Atlanta-based groove metal outfit Irist was formed in the summer of 2015 by guitarist Pablo Davila and bass player Bruno Segovia. Originally from Argentina and Chile, respectively, the duo grew up in musical households, hearing everything from Deep Purple and Pink Floyd through Víctor Jara to salsa legend Willie Colón. But what really set off their imagination was witnessing the rise of Sepultura, whose shadow reams huge over Irist's sound. Mixed with post-metal genre-pushing forays and noticeable influence of Y2K-era metalcore, it caught the attention of cult label Nuclear Blast. Irist's debut for the company, Order of the Mind (2020), earned acclaim from the likes Brooklyn Vegan and Kerrang.
