Guided tour of the exhibition Cubist Collection in the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen

The exhibition presents one of the finest collections of Czech Cubism, curated by the Gallery of West Bohemia in Plzeň. It features works by masters such as Bohumil Kubišta, Emil Filla, Otto Gutfreund, Václav Špála, Josef Čapek, Jan Zrzavý, and Antonín Procházka. The visitors will discover the story of a collection shaped by the visionary director Oldřich Kuba, who in the 1960s launched the “Kubišta Operation” and deliberately built a collection of avant-garde art. The exhibition is arranged by artist across two floors and includes creator profiles and the stories behind the works. It offers a unique insight into a time when Czech art was exploring modern expression and daring to be new.
