Fujiya & Miyagi
Despite the name, Fujiya & Miyagi are neither Japanese nor a duo. The British four-piece, consisting of singer and guitarist David Best, synth player Steve Lewis, bassist Ben Farestuedt and drummer Ed Chivers, is deeply indebted both to vintage '70s krautrock and the '90s bands that were themselves influenced by the likes of Neu! and Kraftwerk, from Stereolab and Broadcast to Aphex Twin and the Orb. Since debuting with 2002's Electro Karaoke in the Negative Style, they have released seven more studio albums, progressively leaning toward groovy dance-punk and nu-disco; their latest release is 2022's Slight Variations.
