Dan Newberry Quartet
Dan Newberry Quartet is a British quartet led by saxophonist Dan Newberry.
The quartet consists mainly of graduates of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff - young and talented musicians who are rapidly making a name for themselves on the British jazz scene. With Czech guitarist Libor Šmoldas.
Tenor saxophonist Dan Newberry has a pleasant tone and a deep understanding of the jazz tradition. Yet he avoids clichés – his playing is fresh, energetic and full of creativity. Even more explosive is drummer Alex Goodyear, one of the busiest musicians on the Cardiff jazz scene. The rhythm section is rounded out by experienced double bassist Nick Kacal - a native Brit with Czech roots – and the band is perfectly joined by the virtuoso guitar playing of Libor Šmoldas.
