Callart1 is the first of three planned installments of the international collection of the Wrocław Contemporary Museum. Individual perception precedes the process of understanding art. An important element of this is seeing our own reflections in it, as well as the extent to which our subconscious is involved in the search for the work's meaning. Permeating a work of art with the personal experience and sensitivity of the viewer remains a fundamental stage in its cognition. This individual and at the same time unique nature of the viewer-work relationship is worthy of interest. Particularly in the context of the intriguing and representing a wide genre and thematic spectrum of works from the international collection of the Wrocław Contemporary Museum. The name of the exhibition and its numbered sections was born from the word cluster of call and art. The numbering corresponds to a fairly common practice used to designate works of neo-avant-garde and especially conceptual origin. The exhibition evokes an interest in the idea of the works. It attempts to provoke the naming of forms, the indication of genre boundaries, the naming of difference, the reflection on the temporality and ephemerality of the works, their material richness or modesty, their intellectual pomp or unpretentiousness. Permeation, illusion, stratification, reinterpretation, self-reflection, a continuum of motifs, excursion - these are just a few possible directions for reading the meanings of the works presented as part of the first instalment of the three-part exhibition series Callart.
