Bielizna
The Polish band Bielizna was formed in the 1980s countercultural hotspot of the Gdansk Alternative Scene as Bielizna Goeringa and became a cult position with the release of their 1988 debut Taniec lekkich goryli, pioneering a fusion of Polish punk and British jangle pop anchored in frontman Jarek Janiszewski's Morrisey-esque baritone and moving, funny magic realist lyricism. Over the following years, they've moved into funky avant-prog freakouts (1992's Tag), ska (2001's Świadkowie rocka, released under the name Doktor Granat) and straightforward alt rock (2004's W dzikim kraju); their most recent album is 2009's Obrazki z wystawki. Bielizna's shows are marked by extensive storytelling routines by Janiszewski, an experienced compère.
