Benjamin Amaru, born Benjamin Widmer, is a Swiss singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with Iranian-Swiss roots. He was born in the city of St. Gallen and grew up in the Appenzell region. He began his musical journey at the age of eight when he started playing the piano, and began singing at fourteen. His musical style evolved from lo-fi pop to a broader range of genres, while retaining a characteristically melancholic and introspective sound.
In 2018, he debuted with the single Water Falls, and since then, he has released over 80 tracks. His work garnered over 30 million streams in 2023. In July 2024, he released his debut album i always remember all of my dreams, which was positively received and strengthened his position in the music scene.
