Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a masterful sitar player, film composer, author of thirteen solo albums, the first woman of Indian origin to perform at the Grammy Awards with eleven nominations. A British musician with Indian roots, Anoushka Shankar studied the sitar and Indian classical music from the age of nine under the intensive tutelage of her father, Ravi Shankar, an Indian sitar player. It was he who passed on to her not only the musical tradition that has been handed down from generation to generation, but especially the freedom to improvise, for which he himself has become world famous.
