AFA fest 2026 will take place on May 1 and 2 at Subzero.

This year, visitors can look forward to names such as Angry Brigade, Berlin Manson (special DJ set), Escalate, Anti-System, Fatal Blow, and Pestpocken. The festival will also feature screenings and lectures. There will also be a chill zone and many distro stands.

Statement on the AFA festival on the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Czech anti-fascist action:

“In May 1996, a masked police unit ROZA stormed the Žižkov club Propast during a benefit concert for the prisoner P. K. (who killed a neo-Nazi in self-defense) and the Green Anarchist activists. Police officers armed with machine guns beat up visitors to the punk concert, and state structures later brushed aside complaints about the brutal illegal intervention. The Czech Anti-Fascist Action was established as a reaction to this unprecedentedly brutal raid.”

“The AFA was not created by chance. Since 1991, neo-Nazi violence has been increasing - racist and neo-Nazi militants left behind two dozen dead and hundreds of injured people. Among the victims were two anti-fascists: Filip Venclík (1993) and Zdeněk Čepela (1994). The police took lukewarm action against this wave of violence, while systematically harassing the anti-authoritarian scene.”

“From the beginning, the AFA defined four goals: protecting the space for the anarchist movement, its promotion, fighting neo-Nazism and state power, and preventing the public influence of the far right. Although the organization initially consisted of only a very narrow activist core, its consistent work built a broad structure that was able to influence public opinion and exert intense pressure on neo-Nazis, leading to the restriction of the activities of their organizations. Through gradual steps, the AFA was able to unite the previously unorganized anti-fascist movement and within a few years turned the situation around to the extent that it reduced and stopped the growing neo-Nazi activities and their efforts to break into politics.”

“It wasn't just about physical clashes – AFA monitored neo-Nazis, published the magazine ANTIFA NEWS (later AKCE), organized lectures, multi-genre concerts, festivals attended by thousands of people, and earned respect even beyond the borders of the Czech Republic. The goal was to push radical racists off the streets and secure space for their own activities, even for people who were otherwise at risk of violence due to their ethnicity, political orientation, or gender.”

“Today, 30 years have passed, and we ask: What remains of it? What does anti-fascist resistance look like today, when authoritarian and xenophobic tendencies are growing stronger all around us? Neo-Nazis and racists do not routinely attack us on the streets today, as they did then, but the situation has catastrophically worsened in the real state of politics and society as a whole.”

“This festival is not about nostalgia. It is about understanding what can be used today, at a time when authoritarian methods are returning, strengthening in new forms, and threatening our freedom. It's been 30 years, but the fight still continues and is more relevant than ever.”

“The entire festival is funded solely from our personal funds and is not organized for profit, but the costs are high. We would be grateful for any amount you can contribute. All additional funds raised will be donated to help imprisoned anti-fascists around the world.”
