Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio

The Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio Amadeus was founded in Poznan in 1968 by Agnieszka Duczmal. Initially, it operated under the patronage of Jeunesses Musicales, and later the Poznan Music Society. The Orchestra's 1976 Herbert von Karajan Silver Medal at the International Meetings of Young Orchestras in West Berlin resulted in its transformation a year later into a full-time Polish Radio and Television ensemble, and then into the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio under Agnieszka Duczmal. Since 2009, Anna Duczmal-Mróz has been the orchestra's second conductor; this female conductor's duo makes the ensemble unique in the world.

The Orchestra makes regular recordings for the Polish Radio – to date hundreds of concerts have been broadcast and over 10,000 minutes of music covering repertoire from the Baroque to contemporary times has been recorded. The Orchestra has collaborated with foreign radio stations, including the German NDR, WDR, SFB and BBC in London, CBC in Montreal and Mexican radio, for which it has primarily recorded Polish music. The Orchestra has recorded over 100 concerts and programmes for Polish Television and five hours of music for Télévision Française 1. For Japanese TV NHK the Orchestra has recorded an hour-long programme filled with Polish music. Amadeus' artistic output includes many world premieres, including the first world recording of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations by Józef Koffler for chamber orchestra. The Orchestra has over 50 record releases. It conducts concerts in most European countries and in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Kuwait, Taiwan and Japan, often cooperating with world-renowned soloists.
