Aleksandra Tomaszewska

Aleksandra Tomaszewska is a Polish composer, conductor, pianist and Doctor of Musical Arts at the Department of Jazz and Entertainment Music at the Stanisław Moniuszko Music Academy in Gdańsk. A graduate of the Department of Jazz and Entertainment Music at the Music Academy in Katowice in the composition and arrangement class of prof. Andrzej Zubek and prof. Anthony Edward Partyka. The composer is a double first award winner of the Komeda Jazz Festival, scholarship holder of “My Polish Heart” Foundation, and Special Prize winner – invited to make a recording with the Norrdeutscher Rundfunk Orchestra (the NDR Bigband) at the seat of the Orchestra. Aleksandra Tomaszewska was the composer and conductor of the Sopot Jazz Festival Bigband feat. Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Aleksandra Tomaszewska Octet feat. NDR Horns, Aleksandra Tomaszewska Quartet feat. Anna Serafińska and Wojciech Staroniewicz, Aleksandra Tomaszewska Septet. The composer participated in Jazz Jantar Festival, Ladies Jazz Festival (Babskie Granie), the Summer Jazz Festival at “Piwnica pod Baranami” in Cracow, the Sopot Jazz Festival, Jazz Berlin Fest, the Summer Jazz Academy, and Tuesday Jazz Club (NOSPR seated in Katowice). Apart from her bigband activity, she also creates music for symphony orchestras. The composer has co-operated with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) feat. Adam Pierończyk, the Polish Radio Orchestra (POR), the Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra and the Polish Young Philharmonic Orchestra.
