Adam Levy
Adam Levy - songwriter and composer, wrote songs including for Norah Jones, Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket). Levy's work can be best appreciated on his own recordings, including Blueberry Blonde, Town & Country and Vs.. Levy is widely respected as a sideman. He never enters the solo spotlight without something meaningful that could be added to the song. His work on the hit Norah Jones Come Away with Me is a perfect example of this. Levy's unspoken but memorable solo draws on jazz and country elements to convey the sincere feelings of the song. His blues solo in Tracy Chapman's song Give Me One Reason tells a colorful story, with not a single note wasted. He is also a nuanced accompanist, which can be heard on Allen Toussaint's American Tune recording. You can also hear it on the recordings of Amos Lee, Ani DiFranco and Anais Michell. Teaching work is also an important element of Levy's musical life. He has taught courses and private lessons at USC, NYU and Los Angeles College of Music, as well as guest lectures at music universities and academies around the world. He authored the book Play the Right Stuff and hosted the popular YouTube Guitar Tips series.
