Kino 64 U Hradeb
Kino 64 U Hradeb is a unique universal space in the heart of Prague in the immediate vicinity of the Charles Bridge.
The aim of Kino 64 U Hradeb is to provide a space for the creation of new events that intersect the fields of art, business, education, mental health and science. Cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, festivals, physical education or educational activities such as lectures and workshops as well as events that enable a fruitful dialogue between the public and business will be designed for the public.
The cinema is located in Mostecká Street near Malostranské náměstí directly on the so-called Royal Route (Královská cesta). In the underground of the house number 273/21 there was an important first-run cinema from 1964 to 2002. After failed privatisation and floods, the cinema closed in 2002 and fell into disrepair. Gradually, several initiatives arose to buy and restore the space.
Since 2015, the restoration of the cinema has been carried out by the new owner Jan Čep. In 2024, the ground floor of the space was renovated and modernized, where cultural, social and educational events will be organized. Work on the reconstruction of the cinema room continues. The aim of the renovation is to preserve the historic spirit of the space with an emphasis on modern technology, innovation and sustainability. A space with diverse possibilities of use is being created, whose programme continues the original glorious history of the important Czechoslovak cinema and develops it in a modern way.
