1914 is a Ukrainian band from Lviv, founded in 2014, 100 years after the outbreak of World War I, to which its name refers. The lyrics mostly deal with war themes: trench warfare, the Battle of Verdun, Zeppelin raids, the Battle of Gallipoli, the Ardites, the Meuse-Argonne offensive, A7V Mephisto, the attacks at High Wood, Stoßtruppen, events in Sarajevo, the battle for Vimy Ridge, the Battle of Messina, the Harlem Hellfighters, etc.
The band plays blackened death / doom metal. The band's debut studio album, Eschatology of War, was released in 2015, and as of 2022, the band has three regular albums. The song ...And A Cross Now Marks His Place (also a single) from the album Where Fear and Weapons Meet features Nick Holmes from the British band Paradise Lost as a guest vocalist.
