Wojciech Blecharz

Wojtek Blecharz (born in 1981) graduated with honors from the Music Academy of Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw, in 2015 he received a doctorate in composition at the music faculty of the University of California, San Diego, specializing in the creation and performance of contemporary music. Since 2012, he has been co-organizing, together with Paweł Mykietyn, the music festival Instalakcje at the New Theater in Warsaw. Blecharz directed three opera-installations: Transcryptum (2013), Park-Opera (2016) and Body-Opera (2014-16). In April 2018, the premiere of Blecharz's fourth opera - Fiasco took place, in September 2018 - Rechnitz.Opera.

In 2012, Blecharz received a scholarship award for "perfection in composition" during the 46th New Music Summer Courses in Darmstadt, in 2013 he was a laureate of the Impuls composition competition in Austria. In 2012, he was nominated for Polityka's Passports in the Classical Music category, in 2013 for the Orlen Award for Poles with Verve in the Culture and Art category and for the Third Program of the Polish Radio Bodybuilder of the Year award. In 2016, Blecharz received an award for music for the best contemporary art exhibition for the show Schubert. A romantic composition for 12 performers and a string quartet directed by Magda Szpecht. In 2017, he received the Siemens Foundation Scholarship to compose the song other states_horizon for 16 performers and for 16 wireless speakers for Collegium Novum from Zurich. He has recently composed compositions for the Forbidden City Orchestra in Beijing, the International Contemporary Ensemble ICE from New York, Musiques Nouvelles from Brussels, KNM Ensemble from Berlin, for the bands Kwadrofonik, Klangforum Wien, Royal String Quartet, Flute O'Clock, LutosAir and others.
