Józef Skrzek

He started out as a bass player with a recognizable sound, and with time he became a virtuoso of all kinds of keyboard instruments, with Moog's favourite synthesizers at the forefront. He debuted in 1970 in the band Breakout. A year later he founded Silesian Blues Band, which - after two years of intensive cooperation with Czesław Niemen (as Grupa Niemen) - transformed into SBB, one of the most important Polish rock bands of all time. They conquered Europe at a time when most Polish artists did not dream of regular concert tours in the West. They took part in great festivals (Roskilde, Festival der Jugend), standing on one stage next to such stars as Bob Marley, Elton John, Mahavishnu Orchestra or Soft Machine. In Poland, they sometimes played four concerts a day in one room - and there were no tickets anyway. They recorded over a dozen albums in Poland, Germany and Czechoslovakia. Since the beginning of the 1980s, Józef Skrzek has been successfully acting as a soloist, constantly searching for new forms of expression. He has recorded many albums, where rock, jazz, electronics and elements of folk mix into one unique whole.
