Dota is a band around the Berlin singer and songwriter Dota (Dorothea) Kehr. The lyrics are time critical, and the music is strongly influenced by bossa nova and jazz . The musicians of the accompanying band Stadtpiraten are Berlin's up-and-coming jazz musicians.
So far, the group has rejected record contracts as well as appearances at party events before the 2005 general election. In October 2006, at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut, the group gave five concerts in Russia, and in the spring of 2009 toured in New Zealand.
In 2008, the band received the Förderpreis der Liederbestenliste . In 2011, Dota Kehr was also awarded in the context of the awarding of the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreises with the Sponsorship Award of the City of Mainz. In 2013 the band decided to drop the name Stadtpiraten and only act as Dota.
