Dzikie Jabłka

Dzikie Jabłka (Wild Apples) - Polish folk band, which was formed in Łódź in 2011 as a result of the fascination of its members with two seemingly distant musical traditions: Polish and West African. The repertoire of Dzikie Jabłka is an unexplored area of ethnic music. They are two elements sounding together: a Slavic melodic note and a captivating rhythm of African drums. It is not an inspiration with Africa or Polish folklore, but a living combination of them. The band combines authentic rhythms from the villages of West Africa deeply rooted in the still alive tradition of the hot continent with Polish melodies and songs, also true and still alive in the folk memory of the Polish countryside. For years the members of the band have been travelling both to West African countries to study the richness of its rhythms there, as well as to the most distant corners of Poland in search of music from our sources. This unusual combination of the two elements is also manifested in the band's original instrumentation.
