The Obsessed
The Obsessed was one of the early Black Sabbath-influenced American bands, pioneering sonic territories that eventually came to be known as doom metal and stoner rock. Formed in 1976 as Warhorse, they released a string of EPs in the 1980s before breaking up in 1986; they came back in the 1990s with three albums, but despite heavy touring and promotion remained commercially unsuccesful and broke up again in 1994. Frontman Scott "Wino" Weinrich reunited The Obsessed briefly for shows in 2012 and 2013; in 2016, he announced the group's permanent comeback, with a line-up featuring the members of his other band Spirit Caravan. The band currently plays both Spirit Caravan and The Obsessed material; they've released a single album since the reunion, 2017's Sacred.
