The Church
The Church is a rock band founded in 1980 in Australia and has been active ever since. Inspired by New Wave and Post-Punk in their early years, an increasing influence of the 1960s psychedelia was noticeable in their later works. The band can thus be classified in the "second wave" of Psychedelic Rock. In their newer works besides the influences of Psychedelic Rock also Space Rock and Progressive Rock can be identified. Their trademark is the combination of the distinctive, deep voice of vocalist Steve Kilbey, his abstract lyrics and the interplay of two guitarists Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper.
