Teatr Lalek Arlekin
The Arlekin Puppet Theater was founded in 1948 by Henryk Ryl - director, puppeteer, social worker and teacher. From the very beginning, Arlekin has been striving to meet the expectations of puppet lovers - the youngest, but also adults. He is constantly improving old and searching for new technical solutions and means of artistic expression. He cares about bringing the fairy tale canon to children, and at the same time tries to talk about the surrounding reality in a contemporary way. The harlequin's repertoire also includes performances for adult viewers and performances played in English, which makes it a friendly place for foreigners living in Łódź. He specializes in performances in which various animation techniques are used. The play of dolls (puppets, eggs, puppets, hand puppets, etc.) is combined here with the actors' play in a vivid set. The ensemble "Harlequin" is also one of the few theaters in the world that uses the difficult, but extremely attractive technique of long-stranded puppets, in which actors located almost five meters above the ground from special bridges animate puppets during the show.
