Sokołowsko
Sokołowsko is a village in the Wałbrzych County, nestled in a valley in the Dry Mountains. Its picturesque location among narrow valleys and steep Sudeten slopes overgrown with thick forests was the reason why - at the request of the Hochberg family - Dr Herman Brehmer founded in Sokołowsko, then still called Görbersdorf, the first tuberculosis sanatorium in the world. Patients from all over Europe came here and the village, where a ski jump was even built, was called the "Silesian Davos".
